8 Reasons Why Monaco Grand Prix Should Top Your Bucket List for 2019!

Monaco Racing Day

Get set for one of the motoring world’s most thrilling events where the world’s best drivers compete on a 55-lap 263-kilometre circuit around the old streets of Monaco. Hear the roar of horsepower and screeching of tires as the cars negotiate some of the tightest corners in F1 racing.

1. It’s one of the world’s most prestigious and oldest sporting events

Along with 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Indianapolis 500, the Monaco Grand Prix makes up the Triple Crown of Motorsport, an unofficial accolade and serious feat that has, so far, only been won by Graham Hill. Few have been close, but it’s a dream for every F1 driver. No one knows who will nab the next Triple Crown, but it will happen, and you could be right there watching history in the making.

2. Watch one of the most exciting F1 tracks

Unlike watching F1 on flat open tracks, at the Monaco Grand Prix you’ll see drivers twist and turn around the city’s streets. Hurtling around tight u-bends, climbing up steep streets and flying through underground tunnels, this is undoubtedly one of the most demanding and thrilling courses in the motorsport world.

3. Catch a glimpse of the race from your hotel window

Though most people score tickets for one of the Grandstands, which get you up close to the action, if you pick right, you could even catch a glimpse of the race from your hotel window. Raid the mini-bar and get set for some serious motoring action in the comfort of your private room. You could always have the TV on to see the rest of the race.

4. Nowhere on earth is quite a glamorous as Monaco

If you can tear your gaze away from the race, you can look over the glitz and glam of Monaco. Depending on where you’ve nabbed a spot, you could have a backdrop of bobbing yachts in the harbour, elegant 19th-century architecture or hilly tree-lined boulevards.

5. It’s a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience

Ok, so for those with deep pockets it might be possible to visit every year, but for us mere mortals, a visit to the prestigious wallet-busting event is a truly once in the lifetime experience not easily forgotten.

6. It’s the only race you can watch from the back of a superyacht

If you’re going to visit, do it right by watching the race from the back of a champagne-fuelled superyacht. The vast 47-metre-long yacht Blush owned by F1 legend Eddie Jordan will moor up on a prime trackside spot overlooking one of the best stretches of the circuit. Here, you can sip of cocktails on glasses of fizz, mingle with the great and the good and catch some of the best views of the event.

7. Cheer on your favourite driver

Whoever you’re here to cheer on, whether its Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas or any of the other F1 drivers competing, you’ll see them here. You never know, you might even score an autograph if you’re lucky.

8. There’s more than just the race

It true that most people come to watch the sporting event, but there’s much more to do when the trophy’s been claimed. Stretch out on the swath of long golden sand overlooking the lapping Mediterranean Sea, pretend you’re James Bond as you try your hand at the tables in the opulent Monte Carlo casinos (shaken Martini mandatory), put your credit card through its paces at the designer shops or dine at one of the Michelin-starred restaurants.
